GPN2011: Growing the Community - Keynote Update

Great Plains Network 2011 Conference
June 1-3, 2011
Kansas City, Missouri

In addition to Michael Wesch and Alan Blatecky, David Lambert, President and CEO of Internet2, will be a keynote for the GPN2011 annual meeting.

Individual, panel and poster presentations as well as Birds of a Feather Session ideas, particularly around this year's theme (Growing the Community), are invited.  Some presentation/panel/poster ideas to get you thinking include:

  • How Advanced Network Services and Cyberinfrastructure can improve research and education, including topics about preparing the network ecosystem for E2E  high-end performance and throughput; state networks; how BTOP and US UCAN are changing the landscape; etc.
  • Innovative applications of cyberinfrastructure to expand communities of researcher and learners (sessions could include services above the cloud; k20 applications, etc.
  • Innovative Partnerships:  inter-institutional cooperation and collaboration (could include the role campuses, state networks and GPN play to enhance collaboration

As always, graduate student presentations and posters are particularly encouraged. There will be awards again this year for outstanding graduate student presentations and posters.

Intro to Hadoop on Gordon
On January 31, the San Diego Supercomputer Center offers a no-fee introductory training workshop on Hadoop and its use in scientific and data intensive computing.

XSEDE Allocation Submissions Open
XSEDE is accepting Research Allocation Requests for the allocation period, April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. The submission period ends January 15, 2013.

OpenACC GPU Programming Workshop
The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, the National Institute for Computational Sciences and Georgia Tech will present an OpenACC GPU programming workshop on January 15 and 16, 2013.
