NCAR Summer 2011 Education and Training Opportunities

The 2011 summer internship program in computational science through the Computational and Information Systems Laboratory (CISL) at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), called Summer Internships in Parallel Computational Science (SIParCS), is, as of December 1, 2010, accepting applications for summer 2011.

The deadline is February 4, 2011. Students will be notified beginning March 18, 2011. There are approximately 10-12 internship openings.

CISL also has summer training classes in Fortran 90, data analysis and visualization for atmospheric science, and more. Also, a visitor program for scientists and supercomputing professionals called the Research and Supercomputing Visitor Program (RSVP) can provide travel support for attendees from EPSCoR states and minority serving institutions. On January 31, the San Diego Supercomputer Center offers a no-fee introductory training workshop on Hadoop and its use in scientific and data intensive computing.

XSEDE Allocation Submissions Open
XSEDE is accepting Research Allocation Requests for the allocation period, April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014. The submission period ends January 15, 2013.

OpenACC GPU Programming Workshop
The Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center, the National Institute for Computational Sciences and Georgia Tech will present an OpenACC GPU programming workshop on January 15 and 16, 2013.
